The PDF A5 Rules are here!
about 6 years ago – Wed, Oct 17, 2018 at 01:29:54 AM

Hi to all from Nightfall Games

As it says in the title, we are there.

The PDF of the SLA Industries; Cannibal Sector One miniatures game rule set is here.

Access it here

We know this has been a long time coming, but after Nightfall took over this project we have needed to overhaul what was in place and therefore start layout from scratch. The game should bare similarities to the beta version and still reflect the feel and nature of SLA Industries, but with a more streamlined and less luck driven game.

You will note that some things are under 'D-Notice', these are items we need to playtested more before publication, but there is enough here to get you playing with 5 factions, scenarios and all the rules you need.

We are conscious that many of you may have helped with playtesting the Drama version of the rules, unfortunately we are not privy to all of your names, so if you know someone who should be acknowledged in this document, please let us know via PM or comment here.

What Next?

We are releasing the PDF 2 months before it is sent to print so that we can pick up any major or minor issues (typos, grammatical issues or rules issues etc.). Fixes for these will be added to the doc before it is printed, so please help us capture this and share your concerns here or on the Facebook group. We need your help to make this product even more awesome!

Cards

Since the overhaul of the rules it has become clear that the use of potentially 30 or so cards for a skirmish game, (per side,) was just too much and hence we moved to a Roster system (the template for that can be found with the rules on the link above).

But that doesn't mean there isn't a need for cards. There will be Glyph cards, there will be Denizen cards and there will be Character cards (which can be used as Denizens or as 'named' characters to add to your patrol:

A Denizen Card
A Denizen Card
A Character Card, as with all character cards McNultie can be added to an appropriate squad (see the logos at the top) or added to your Denizen deck
A Character Card, as with all character cards McNultie can be added to an appropriate squad (see the logos at the top) or added to your Denizen deck
Aetherman, like McNultie is a character, hence can be added to your squad or the Denizen deck.

Chagrins, Breacher Shivers and Rules

Hi everyone from the Nightfall team

PDF Layout

Here's a sneak peek at the A5 version of the *SLA Industries: Cannibal Sector 1* skirmish rules. The PDF version will be ready within a week, all going well, with the print version following on as soon as we can get it sorted.

As per the earlier version, it's not supposed to have art in it, but where there are gaps, how could we not put art in?

and our professional photographer also has the monochrome miniatures for the diagrams:

Here’s the plan for the diagrams: all minis are single colour. The background will be 18% grey. Everything will be legible. Colour-blindness and dyslexia will be taken into account. Models will be exceedingly readable as we will be using Shivers (Green) and Carrien (yellow) only. The aim is to make the diagrams look like Shiver training holograms.

 Art:

A quick picture for you:

I think there are 244 pieces of art here and they are all new and all done by Dave Allsop. Now I know that this project has taken a lot longer than expected and clearly without Nightfall taking over with Word Forge Games help, it would have failed. BUT I think it is clear that Dave has done an amazing job (he is the main writer too). Originally he was informed that there would be many other artists and writers and he would get paid for what he did (maybe 50% of the art and writing needed), but that wasn't to prevail, so he took this on 100% in his own time, and in its entirety.

Personally, I want to say thank you to Dave, because without his diligence this would never be, and although not here yet...he as made sure that the A4 can be! 1000s of hours work...Wow!

 Chillcon and DarkNight

As we said in the last update we were at the event Chillcon in Derby last Saturday. We took the retail stock we could as well as a demo set of the new rules. We had a lot of interest, enough in fact that we can now happily move the DarkNight faction from the 'Black' section to 'Red', meaning that we will be able to make the DK starter. We are really excited about this and hope to soon be able to do the same for the Ex-War Criminal.

We are currently working on the PDF A5 rules for layout, but once that is done we will be moving to the Nightfall Games website, where we will open a shop. Included there will be all the items not KS related (and not with the Liquidators).

While at Chillcon, 2 of the 3 pro-painters asked us to paint up the Crawler APC. Here is a quick snap of Paul Elston's WIP:

Next week, (probably on the Thursday), we are hoping to be able to show you the painted Chagrin and Shiver Medic, and the first casts of the Grit Stormer!

Progress Report from Nightfall Games
about 6 years ago – Mon, Sep 17, 2018 at 01:24:02 AM

Hi Everyone

We have seen some significant progress this week:

PDF/A5 Rules

The Rules for Nightfall Games' Cannibal Sector One Miniature Game are now complete. They have been sent for layout.

We hope to have them published as a PDF by the end of the month. Then we will send to print after 2 months. This gap will allow us to gather feedback from you all and the wider community.

Anyone that chooses to help in this way and supplies proofreading and or play testing feedback will be added to the acknowledgement section of the A5 rulebook.

Cards

We have now completed all the cards that are needed for the Flux Deck (10 Cards) and the Denizen Deck (approximately 20 Cards). The card layout design will be created over the next couple of weeks. Ready to be printed as soon as possible after that.

Digger, Cannibals, Shivers, Scavs and Delia

When Nightfall Games took over this project, we were made aware of a number of debtors that had not been paid for the stock or renders they had made. A few weeks ago we paid for a number of moulds and casts for the Cannibal Matriarch and Runts and Digger from one supplier. We cannot currently use the moulds, but the casts have been added to our stock to fulfil this KS and the Cannibal preorder.

This week we managed to acquire the stls (the computer sculpts) and a number of casts for the Shivers, Scavs and Delia, from another supplier. These therefore are now independent of the liquidation process and can be considered wholly in the ownership of Nightfall games.

Chillcon

We will be attending Chillcon in Derby next weekend and will be demoing CS1 on the Word Forge Games stand.

Please come and see us, especially if you have questions or frustrations regarding all of this.

We will also be selling some of our stock that is independent of this Kickstarter and the liquidation process. Any money we make will be put towards rendering of the models we have currently highlighted in black below. Our first target is DarkNight.

Here is what will be offered:

The Status Update
