Good Evening all!
You may have noticed, but the Backerkits have arrived in your mailboxes! These are a combination of questionnaire which will allow you to select the options and choices from your pledge and an add on menu allowing you to select more cool SLA : CS1 goodies! The Questionnaire element has choices such as;
What Tee shirt size? which Free miniatures would you like to include in your pledge? do you want resin or metal miniatures? and so forth.
In addition, you can add in lots of extras and bits and pieces! If you want multiples of any miniatures, starter sets, more of a given item, etc - this is the place to do it!
Please remember, that the token sets, templates, etc are addons - we have had a few queries already about those. You can however, select custom templates and tokens at no additional cost!
If you have any questions, please fire away!
The Backerkit does not lock down and end until 28th February, at this point your Credit card will be charged and your pledge order locked down completely, along with all of your choices.
Keep your eyes peeled for tomorrow night though, when we will have a few more images to share and.. perhaps.. a surprise!

Backerkit Imminent! Pre Order page Live and some freaky Dream entities..

Happy New Year!
Its only the beginning of 2017 and already we are moving on the Kickstarter, tonights update has 3 main pieces of News! We will start with the Backerkit!
- In the next few days, you will receive an Email from Backerkit, this will contain a questionnaire asking you to confirm a few details (T shirt size, free miniatures choice(s), do you want metal or resin? etc) and then it will take you to the Addons page where you can select from all of the Addons that we mentioned in the Kickstarter.
- We have listened to feedback from many of you regarding the greater, expanded range and whilst we would prefer that you go direct to a Friendly Local Retailer to buy the range, if that isn't an option you can add in Products from the general Releases as well, such as Starter Sets, etc - these will be at pretty much full or near full RRP however and many of our Retailers do offer some very good deals. Any of these that you choose as an addon will be sent out with your Kickstarter delivery.
- As part of the Addons, you can also purchase multiples of the Pledge levels! These are in addition to your core pledge.
- The Backerkit will be open within the next few days and will close on Tuesday 28th February. Your Credit card account will be debited on the day that it closes.
Pre Order site!
- We have had many enquiries from people whom missed the Kickstarter and would like to join in and grab a late Pledge. The Pre Order site will allow anyone who wants a Pledge level to purchase one here, however we would like to add that the Pre Orders will go out after the initial Kickstarter delivery so we've pencilled in August dispatch for those! They may go out sooner, if we get the Kickstarter out swiftly, but only when the KS has gone!
The Website for the Pre Order site is;
https://sla-cs1.backerkit.com/hosted_preorders
This is Live Now! If you have any friends who missed out and want to get involved, please point them in this direction!
Right.. thats the business bit, now for the really cool stuff! We have shown you a few snippets of the Dream Entities but now we unveil the last of them, "The Screamer" and the full Initial Line up.
Screamers are Effigy Class Dream Entities created by the Masters through the prolonged torture and murder of a CSOne inhabitant. The Dream Master is surrounded by countless Unformed sacs which are then shaped by the continued horrendous experiences of the victim.
And here are the rest of the Patrol!
We love these, and we cannot wait until later in the year when the Miniatures go into production! We will even be modelling the Titters addons, Oopsie Daisy and Oinky Boinky as they have a sinister use in game.. We warn you that the Cannibal Sector is a dangerous place, and if you notice a shiny red balloon.. be careful.. be very careful..

A word from Dave!

Dave here; Working on Cannibal Sector 1, and other related SLA material has been eating all my available time.
Learning Miniatures
Instead of just posting up more concept art from CS One (which you've no doubt already seen via the Daruma pages) I thought I'd talk briefly about the miniature range we've been producing.
Daruma has been operating for about 16 months, and I have to say it's been a real eye opener. I've been experiencing a very sharp learning curve with regards the production of the models, and there's still an awful lot still to learn.
My background is primarily in rpgs, and whilst I've collected miniatures voraciously as a teen, I didn't fully realise what goes into taking a design from concept art to final model.
When I started out I would get the art together and send it off to the sculptors for rendering. When the model returned I put them through their paces, trying to get them as close as possible to original design.
All the sculptors I've worked with strived to nail the design, and followed all my (numerous) revisions. What I found, especially with the first models, was that what looks just fine as an exact 3D render loses something when it finishes production as a model, especially if it's too close to reality. A lot the fine detail that appeared on the art (especially the weaponry, like pistols) just lost so much in the molds. It just doesn’t read when reduced down.
When I would look at the miniatures on the gaming table, and in photographs, I could see that from even a slight distance that too much of the character models just 'greyed out'; you could see what was going on.
As a result I've had to re-examine how the art translates to the miniature. You may have noticed that the most recent releases as are little chunkier, this is intentional. Everything from Joe Fade onwards has been created with these considerations in mind.
I'm looking forward to seeing an actual print copy of the Capt Feany model to see if he translates better on the game table.
Fingers crossed.
RPG Update
In amongst the Cannibal Sector One work I've been gradually plugging away at the rpg material. As I'm pretty sure I've already stated, there's two major releases to put out before we move onto the much-anticipated '2nd Edition SLA Industries'. That's the Shi'An Sourcebook, and Whistling Bridge.
Right now, the focus is on getting the first part of Shi’An – Neophyte together, so I’ve dividing the time available (about 2 hours a day) between the art and writing. I’m hoping to at least get the first draft of this release into editing with Jared in February.
Here’s one of the new interior illustrations I’ve finished for the book. Hope you like it.
Until next time,
Dave

Scavs spotted in the Sector
– Mon, Dec 26, 2016 at 03:34:31 AM
Good Evening all, as Xmas approaches - we have just had confirmation that our 3rd Faction, the Scavs, will be in full production this week!
A little later than initially planned, we have a large array of gorgeous miniatures in the Scav lineup, a full patrol but extra Marauders, Sniper, Flamer, Scrounger, Pit Boss and.. the scary Mr Chainsaw!
The delays were due to us waiting for a slot on the best 3d printer in the industry, but we are sure that you'll agree these are superbly detailed miniatures, and as in-game they are all 7ft+ they tower over the smaller Human sized Shivers! So, without further ado, please take a look at the Scavs!
There are a good range of upgrade parts in there as well - Combat Shotguns, Mine Markers, HUGE Chainaxes, rocket grenades.. these will look scary on the table and take paint beautifully.
They are available already and will be dispatched before the end of the year, whist you can still take advantage of the FREEPOST offer! What you waiting for? Grab yourself some Scavs now!

A look at the RPG books!
– Sun, Dec 25, 2016 at 11:06:45 AM
As many of you will probably know, we have reprinted the original SLA RPG from the early 90's. The majority of the work was done by Jared, and it turned out to be something of a monumental task! He had to scan, clean up and redo every image in the book as well as all of the text. As the original files were lost in the early 90's, long before the cloud or Data backup was a real thing, everything had to be done from scratch.
It took a while, but the end result was well worth the effort. The SLA Industries RPG is back in print, for the first time this side of the millenia. Not only does this mean that you can now own this superb publication, but it also enables us to move the storyline forward...
By that, we mean that the World of Progress is a living, breathing setting which will develop and expand in coming months and years. The Cannibal Sector 1 setting for the Skirmish game is an integral part of this story, as is the Shi'An Sourebook and Whistling Bridge - the future publications will advance the World of Progress in a huge story arc which will, eventually, take us to SLA 2.0! Its way too far off to talk much about that right now.
So, back to the reprint! We put together a very special little Mega Bundle for the RPG and those are leaving the Daruma HQ tomorrow - just as soon as the SLA d10's arrive, and those are due to come along with 165kg of friends for the Skirmish Game. For now though, please take enjoy taking a look at the Merchandise Bundle for the 2016 Reprint of SLA Industries.
There should be a few of these very cool Ltd Edition bundles left after Xmas, and we will put the remainder up for sale then.
